When The Deadbolt Breaks: As Hope Valley Burns - Eulogy

Dave Aftandilian Thick, sludgy doom puts it grimy fingers around your ankles and pulls you down into the dirt. Worms turn, body rots, hope decays. But there is something shining down here, and you turn towards it instinctively, even if it blinds you.

I live in the dirt, and I will make the peace I will burn the world when it stops turning The end is what we fear, but its been done before Were bleeding in the dirt, my veins are growing cold Crashing down around us, the blood will turn to ash Time will melt away and make us whole Burn the world Lust within the violence, no way to read the signs Yet the games continue, set fire to the churches Burn the world The road begins to blur, cruising far too fast With whiskey and some matches, the dogs are on the hunt Raining down from the skies, there’s horror all around The weak have run inside their homes, and dwell in the underground We dig down, the shovels broke Bleeding hands, Heaven burns We dig down, the shovels broke We dig down, the shovels broke Bleeding hands, Heaven burns We try so hard to be alright, but when it comes, we never are The shovels are all stained with blood, you know this dirt, will never move As it comes time again, there’s a pistol in your hand Begging for this thing to change, knowing that it has to end Feel it starting in your spine, the pain it never ends Sitting back you take a drink, and start to sink in to the earth
2.
Hide – from what’s out there Lies – infect the mass Live – beyond the edge Chains – will drag you down Clouds – the gray will fade Love – the world in hate Dream – darkness breathes Behind – what sets you free Light – to show the way Down – were sinking down Storms – are coming soon Feed – the ground up bones Suffer – the darkest skies Rains – to cleanse the death Hope – does not exist Slain – all hope is slain Enter – the house of dread Walking – the waking fear Holding – the golden staff Tragic – fall to earth Old Blood – runs so deep Infected – break the strain Cables – around your neck Extinction – breath fails you now

God's Eyes 07:47
The lights go dim, words hit like bricks We crawl over the dead, and rats are at my feet Hold the shot gun steady and clear your head There’s too many reason to pretend we are dead Grieving for the lost love, the engine is on fire Slipping ever deeper, sadness strangles you cold Picking up the pieces, nothing will matter The day ends - as it begun In-toxi-cating, Drugs like death Dreams take demon form; I see God’s eyes Drug – like – death Mind – is – numb All – my – will Clench– my – Fist In-toxi-cating Dreams – take demon form Strapped down and begging, her breath is slowing A psychotic moment, leads to a calming To search for meaning, amongst the runes My deadly nightmare, witness the demise Inside I’m dying, inside I’m sacred The rites of winter, it will be done My head is not calm, my body shakes I cant work through this, the day remains The noise is violent, come to the edge The sound is crippling, and black is fading Behold a rebirth, below the surface My mind is violent, my mind is breaking Inside I’m dying, inside I’m sacred The rites of winter, it will be done My head is not calm, my body shakes I cant work through this, the day remains
4.
I can see them, smiling through the trees We all know we’re burning, but it still feels the same The blood seems so bold, yet so afraid to die Cradled ancient stones, fall to disrepair Hold on to the end, you’re drowning in the sands Down the mountain side, I cannot escape, the things we are, has made us mad The beasts in robes, the moon spills blood, clutch the knives, and keep your head low Creation of the damned, a soul sacrifice, forever on the run, as the war starts in the east Mountains crumbled down, Destroyer of light, the book as told us lies, the passage of the doomed They gather in packs, under the red skies, plan your gods revenge and dig your heels in, The virus has evolved, the hatred feels right, blood runs down your chin, the passage of the damned Fight eh beasts head on, kill them where they stand, we will not back down, todays the day we die The lands will tell a tale, of those who fought hard, the passion and the plague, disease and the sword The machine has broken, your prayers are unheard Bred to burn it all down, destroying what’s been left Creeping through the stairways, the remaining have no eyes The winds kiss the sunset, smoke will fill the air Your teeth are broke and jagged, the blood fills your lungs Drifting to a deep sleep, forever in the fire.
5.
Not to touch the earth Not to see the sun Nothing left to do, but Run, run, run Let's run Let's run House upon the hill Moon is lying still Shadows of the trees Witnessing the wild breeze C'mon baby run with me Let's run Run with me Run with me Run with me Let's run The mansion is warm, at the top of the hill Rich are the rooms and the comforts there Red are the arms of luxuriant chairs And you won't know a thing 'till you get inside Dead president's corpse in the driver's car The engine runs on glue and tar Come on along, not goin' very far To the East to meet the Czar Run with me Run with me Run with me Let's run Whoa! Somehow outlaws lived by the side of a lake The minister's daughter's in love with the snake Who lives in a well by the side of the road Wake up, girl, we're almost home Ya, c'mon! We should see the gates by mornin' We should be inside the evenin' Sun, sun, sun Burn, burn, burn Soon, soon, soon Moon, moon, moon I will get you Soon, soon, soon! I am the Lizard king I can do anything

Connecticut’s When the Deadbolt Breaks has signed with Eagle Talon Records, to release their 9th album, “As Hope Valley Burns: Eulogy” on CD and digital formats in 2021.

When The Deadbolt Breaks’ music has been labeled many things -heavy, daunting, overwhelming, unnerving- but the bands guitarist, vocalist and founder, Lewis, has always struck a balance between the ugly and beautiful: long compositions wade through detuned, discordant, and murky sludge before shifting into melodic ambient space rock territories, and back again. It’s not hard to see that cinema is often what informs Lewis’s songwriting: the grueling discomfort of E. Elias Merhige or the surreality of David Lynch have provided as much inspiration as his musical influences.

“As Hope Valley Burns: Eulogy”, is the finale to what is essentially a 2 record set, although both records will stand on their own. Italy’s Argonauta Records will be releasing “As Hope Valley Burns” on vinyl and digital formats in late 2021.
