Leading up to this EP, Troll Teeth’s recent releases had critics and fans saying, “this band is constantly evolving,” and we wanted to try and take a step back in more than one way. Not just reach back into the original way we use to write & perform songs, but also how we recorded. Kyle & I researched a lot on retro style mic’ing techniques and mixed everything ourselves together because we wanted a classic, retro, lo-fi, raw sound for these songs. We wanted to experiment while also exploring ground we may have already covered but in a new way.

Troll Teeth started out as a fun way to blow off steam and explore music in the small windows of free time we all had. We started recording drums, guitar, bass, and vocals in very raw and rough cut recordings using nothing but an 8-track recorder. We recorded our first scratch tracks in the basement of Moe’s old house. The quality of which harkens back to that style of 1960s and 1970s early Proto-Metal, early Heavy Metal albums. For this EP we recorded in Ben’s attic.
